the runner movie review

Movie: The Runner (2026) | Starring: Gal Gadot, Damian Lewis | Platform: Amazon Prime Video

A Specialized Driver, A Critical Mission and Colombian Drug Lords

Runner is a movie starring Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson. Alan Ritchson plays like a military man, former Navy SEAL, who is who is kind of a specialized Uber driver. He deals with special cases. He's dealing with his ex-wife and having issues there. Owen Wilson is a guy who's delivering a very important organ to a young girl. He lands Owen Wilson lands in a private jet in Australia, picked up by Alan Ritchson, and then they get followed by a bunch of mobsters trying to kill him and get the organ. Well, they're the the mobs. They're a certain type of mobster. It would be they're Colombian. They're Colombian drug lords, whatever. Someone needs Someone needs that organ and they're going to try to take it from the girl. That's a very simple plot of this kind of fun action movie. I mean, the the plot is super simple. Everyone wants this organ. They will kill to get it. And they're after Owen Wilson and and Ritchson's character.

A Rare Talking Parakeet and Unlikely Buddy Comedy Chemistry

And they have a a bird. He somehow inherited this talking parakeet in the he was trying to deliver. It's a rare rare bird. Yeah. He had to deliver it and they didn't the people didn't want it, so he was stuck with it. Yeah. Yeah. So, wait, did you see this? Yes, I did. Oh, okay. Look, this movie is was it was kind of of dumb. I it's it ends up being like a buddy picture in a way like a buddy comedy mixed with some gruesome action quite frankly you know of course led by Ritchson which is what you would expect and you actually like that part of it. I I do like that part. Um, yeah, that's what made it more that's what made it more of a recommend for me, like a bear recommend. Because look, I like Alan Ritchson. You have you seen War Machine on Netflix? That thing is amazing. Yeah. And they're doing a sequel to it, by the way. So, I like Ritchson. I liked him in Motor City. He's the reason to go see Runner.

A 90-Minute Solid Action Film Filled With Twists and Turns

And the buddy sort of, you know, unlikely pairing of Owen Wilson on streaming and thought, "Oh, it was fun." Yeah. Like, so I had a good time. I I had a good time. It was mainly because of the Owen Wilson, Alan Ritchson Chemistry. That really worked for me. So, I give it a bare recommend. You can wait for streaming on it. Allan, what do you think? Yes. Well, unlike you, I saw this on my iPad. Okay. And quite frankly, I had a lot of a lot of fun with it on my iPad. Uh, very standard. It's an Look, it's an action movie. Uh, I think it um twists and turns. You know, people you trust are people you don't trust. Uh, you know, I the the plot is solid. You know, there's a a little girl who needs an organ transplant. They're carrying the organ. No, you can't get much more sympathetic than that. Uh, and then so so there's the whole chase, uh, which is very good. the action surrounding chases, the car chase, the guns, everything, the explosives. Um, very good.

An Emotional Organ Transplant Race and A Solid Recommendation

And then you deal with the actual kidney itself, which has to be kept under certain um circumstance or uh temperature conditions. Yeah. Conditions to make sure that it arrives safe for the little girl. Yeah. And um and very solid, you know, they it was well thought out. And that's essentially what this movie is. It's a solid action film. And this movie does something that most movies like this would never do. Um, it is impossible for this movie to have a sequel. So, uh, so there you go. I and Ritchson works. And, you know, you're they're playing on your heartstrings with the little girl. He's got he's got some demons from his past that tie into why this mission is important to him. So, in the end, it's it's positive for me. It's very violent, though. I I could call it by the books. I think it's a little bit more elevated than by the books. Not much more. Just a solid action film from beginning to end. All right. So, bear recommend for me. Going to recommend for me.
